Ofelia Gonzalez (right) accepts the Award from Executive Director, Eva J Deyo, on November 14, 2008

2008 EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR: Mrs. Ofelia Gonzalez.

Ofelia Gonzalez was originally hired in August 1998.  She began in a Clerk/Secretary position, and over the years has taken every opportunity to cross train in each position available in the Customer Service Department, now holding the position of Billing Coordinator.

Her supervisor, Oona Reyna, describes Ofelia as, “being an integral part of what makes Immokalee  Water & Sewer District so special. Ofelia is highly-skilled in the position that she currently holds as Billing Coordinator.  Ofelia has had the pleasure to have cross-trained in  every customer service position over the past ten years, and can perform any task necessary to complete any process within the Administration realm.   Ofelia is very dependable and has empowered her coworkers around her to achieve the same level of excellence.  Ofelia has taken accounting classes to enhance her portfolio and to prepare her for further advancement.  Ofelia performs her job duties with minimal  supervision, and often detects and corrects others deficiencies, with ease.  Ofelia juggles life, school and work with such agility, that she deserves this award.”

Mrs. Gonzalez won the Employee of the Year by achieving the highest number of Employee of the Month points; a total of 195 points from October 2007 through September 2008.  During the year she has volunteered in the community, especially for the Harvest Festival Committee. She has tirelessly worked to produce necessary water quality publications, in both English and Spanish.  In addition to her other achievements, she received points for not using vacation or sick time, for being on time, and for interdepartmental teamwork.

During the fiscal year, Ofelia won Employee of the Month for March and September. This will be a total of Nine (9) Employee of the Month awards, since she began working for the District.

In recognition of her outstanding achievements in being named 2008 EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR, Mrs. Ofelia Gonzalez will receive 8 hours off with pay, an Immokalee Water & Sewer District shirt, $50 in Winn Dixie gift certificates and an award from the Immokalee Water & Sewer District, along with our congratulations and heartfelt appreciation for a job well done.
